US City-Level Data
We submitted over 150 public records requests to cities and police departments across the US. These data are derived from those requests and are supplemented by data available on city open data portals. The collection includes:
Enforcement records (2016-2025): Data from 33 city police departments and court systems documenting civil and criminal citations under anti-sleeping/camping ordinances. For many cities, we also have data on all citation types
311 call records (2016-2025): Data from 36 cities tracking resident-reported concerns, including homelessness-related issues and encampments (geocoded with detailed location information)
Geocoded shelters (2012-2024): Comprehensive lists of shelters across the US with details including number of beds available by category
British Columbia School Finance:
I collected, scanned, and digitized comprehensive financial records for British Columbia school districts spanning multiple decades. These were compiled from annual government reports, financial statements, and archival sources and include:
District Finances (1874-2001):School district budgets with detailed funding and spending levels by category; enrollment data; teacher salaries; school tax rates
Funding Formula Data (1970s-1990s): Provincial funding formula parameters and inputs
Property Tax Rates (1985-2015): Property tax rates by category and municipality
Student Outcomes (1979-1988, 1991-present): District-level graduation and dropout rates
Private School Data (1975-present): School-level enrollment and location data, with test scores and grade repetition rates available from 1991
Aggregate Income Measures (1983-2019): District level, from the Longitudinal Administrative Databank (LAD) and the Intergenerational Income Database (IID)
